Philip, South Dakota

Welcome

Nestled among the rolling prairies of South Dakota, our historic ranch home offers guests a peaceful retreat filled with comfort and charm. Each of our rooms and cabins tells part of the Triangle Ranch story, inviting you to rest, slow down, and enjoy the beauty of the land that surrounds us.

      Main House Guest Rooms

      Esther’s Room

      From $125 / night

      Queen-Sized Bed

The afternoon sun sets “Esther’s Room” aglow, highlighting the dark wood of her spindle bed dressed in white. The sun’s warmth is reflected on the beautiful hand-feathered frames displaying generations of family pictures. Esther’s school books and favorite novels rest on the vintage bedside stand. Your en suite bathroom, papered in French toile honoring Esther’s heritage, will afford you the convenience and privacy you require.

      Mathilda’s Room

      From $150.00 / night

      Two Twin Beds

In the west room the spirit of “Mathilda” lives on in her quilt, crocheted linens and hand-painted china, all created during the long nights while she was “proving up” on her homestead. Furnished with twin beds, it’s perfect for friends traveling. Awaken to blue sky and songbirds winging from tree to tree. Two steps down the hall, your private bath is the original, deluxe, from Sears, Roebuck & Co with clawfoot tub/shower, pedestal sink and built in oak cabinetry.

      Grace’s Room

      From $150.00 / night

      Queen-Sized Bed

The sunrise is seen best from “Grace’s Room”, named for that strong, but loving pioneer great-grandmother who toiled with her family to help build the Triangle Ranch.

Furnished with her oak sleigh bed and dresser, which was carried west in their wagon. Her only set of furniture, it previously resided in their “sod dugout” and log home. If that old bed could talk, it would tell of the night “Grandpa Baldy’s” .45 went off in the dark and all were spared. Nowadays it has a much softer life with a comfy mattress, lofty cherry red coverlet and a skirt of white battenburg lace.

      Louisa’s Room

      From $150.00 / night

      Queen-Sized Bed

Sunrise comes softly to the “Louisa’s Room”. Restful and romantic in soft shades of cream, blue and rose with it’s pretty wrought iron bed and lace curtains blowing in the breeze. Hung proudly on the wall is the marriage certificate of William Leggett and his sweetheart, Alice Goble, wed in 1874, great grandparents of Louisa, Lyndy’s mother, from whom she claims her Irish heritage. Enjoy soaking in your private clawfoot tub or a brisk shower in the convenience of your en suite bathroom.

      Cowboy Carriage House

      $190.00 / $250.00 night

Open the door and step into a scene straight out of a classic western. Surrounded by vintage décor—wagon wheel furniture, weathered boots, spurs, and a cowboy hat—you’ll feel the spirit of the Old West come alive. Pine-paneled walls echo with stories of generations past, adorned with illustrations by Vint Williams, a true cowboy and keeper of ranch history. The space is ideal for groups of 3–5, offering a warm, inviting setting to gather, relax, and make memories together.

      • Private bath
      • Queen bed, twin loftbeds, foldout sofa
      • Kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, coffeepot, toaster, dishes, untensils
      • WiFi

      Cabin Under the Hill

      $375.00 / $475.00 night

The Cabin Under the Hill was built by the Ireland family in 2018 on the site of the ranch’s beloved original Log Ranch House, which was lost in the Cottonwood Prairie Fire. Tucked beneath log eaves, it’s the perfect place to unwind in cozy beds, share stories by the campfire, and take in the star-filled prairie skies. With its scenic setting and peaceful atmosphere, it also serves as a beautiful backdrop for weddings, events, and retreats—offering a memorable space to gather and celebrate.

      • 2 night minimum
