Our History
A Prairie Legacy Rooted in Family, History, and Hospitality
Our story began in 1904, when H.H. Williams drove his livestock west across a pontoon bridge on the Missouri River at Chamberlain, South Dakota, making his way west.
Our story began in 1904

In 1904, H.H. Williams and his family crossed the Missouri River at Chamberlain, S.D., to homestead on the Triangle Ranch, settling first in a creekbank sod dugout after a neighboring homesteader claimed the cottonwood logs he had planned for their home. The surrounding prairie and river breaks remain much as they were when the family arrived.
Sears Prairie Home

The log house they built the following year was a cozy home and many pioneer dances were held within its walls. However, about 1917, when the ranch was more established, H. H. and Grace began perusing the Sears, Roebuck & Co. Catalog of homes and dreaming of building one of those beautiful, but practical dwellings. Sears had become a leader in the manufacture and sales of "precut" homes. Perfect for folks way out on the prairie with no building centers nearby. add a few word title for the 1917 section
Triangle Ranch Today

Today, this historic home still shines with its 409 windowpanes and timeless charm. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it now welcomes guests as the Triangle Ranch Bed & Breakfast hosted by H.H.’s great-granddaughter Lyndy Ireland and her family. They lovingly carry on a legacy of warm, South Dakota hospitality.
A Tribute to Kennedy
A dedicated rancher,
husband, and father
Kenny Ireland, passed away on October 2, 2021 after an honorable battle with lung cancer. His memory is woven into every skyline, fence, structure, window, furnishing and meal that you enjoy here. He loved his life ranching here in “God’s Country” as he put it. For 52 years he was Lyndy’s dedicated partner in crime and helped see the dream of the Triangle Ranch Bed and Breakfast come to life.
